Hype Event Protection combines Queue-it’s virtual waiting room with Akamai’s advanced detection to stop bad bots during high-demand sales, drops, and sign-ups—while keeping the experience seamless for real customers.
Queue-it controls traffic into the sale, giving Akamai more time and data to identify malicious visitors. When the sale opens, genuine customers are randomized and placed in the online queue, while bots are blocked or forced to re-join at the end of the line.
This multi-layered, delayed-mitigation strategy prevents bots from adapting mid-event—delivering fairer sales, lower load on your backend, and faster access for real customers.
One of Europe’s largest ticketing providers used Hype Event Protection for several onsales in August 2025. In one sale alone, Hype Event Protection mitigated over 2 million bots, or 98% of all traffic, giving real fans a 50x higher chance of getting their hands on tickets.
Australian-based Ticketek also reported success. “Hype Event Protection helped us put more tickets in the hands of real fans, giving them a faster, fairer onsale experience,” says Paul Cosgriff, Global Head of Technical Operations.

Managing large numbers of waiting rooms via API just got faster.
You can now use a single API call to enable, disable, pause, or end up to 100 waiting rooms at once—eliminating repetitive scripts and reducing the chance of manual errors.
The new API endpoints accept a list of up to 100 waiting room IDs in a single request, expanding on the previous one-ID-per-call structure to simplify management for customers running many waiting rooms.
Explore the API documentation in our Developers section for more details.

We’ve introduced two improvements to personalize email notifications for invite-only waiting rooms, making it easier to deliver consistent, on-brand communications for customers running several events.
Tags for dynamic content in email notifications
Use tags to auto-populate your email notifications with dynamic content like brand name, artist, product type, and more – all while using the same email template. You define keys (e.g. “Brand Name”, “Artist”, etc.) and add values for each waiting room. Queue-it automatically fills your emails with the right event info, ensuring tailored messaging for multiple waiting rooms.

Template selection per waiting room
Previously, email templates could only be mapped at the account or language level. Now, you can choose a different email template for each room to fit branding or messaging needs. If no template is chosen, the default is used. Your Queue-it support representative can help map templates in the backend.

Double Queue Exemption helps you deliver a faster, fairer experience for visitors who’ve already queued once—and it’s now available for even more Connectors.
The feature prevents repeat queuing during multi-step journeys. For example, a visitor who queued for a sale page can proceed directly to checkout without entering another queue. This minimizes frustration and drop-off while keeping the experience fair for everyone.
Double Queue Exemption is now available to customers using ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, and Jakarta Connectors (v4.2+), in addition to Akamai, CloudFront, Cloudflare, Tencent, JavaScript (server), and Java (v4.2+) released in January 2025.

A public Connector Support framework makes it easier for you to see which Connectors are fully supported and up to date. The framework includes support levels and latest versions for all 20 + Connectors.
It can help your team plan integrations and ensure you’re on a Connector and version that gives you the full benefit of Queue-it features receives the latest security updates.
Every quarter, our R&D department pushes Queue-it to do more for your team—more reliability during peaks, more control over traffic, and more peace of mind on those high-impact days.
Next up the team is working on:
- Adding to and improving on our mobile Connectors
- Simplifying theme customization
- Capturing more marketing value from your queues
Keep an eye out for the next update in early 2026.
